Happy whatever
I like Valentine’s Day. Something to celebrate when winter in Sweden is at its worst. However, this feast is a newcomer to us here. When we read Hamlet in school 45 years ago (Act IV scene 5) no one of us knew of it. Now I hope that all you who like it have had a happy day, and that you who dislike it could endure after all. Peace and love!
The use of language
If you want to express outright feelings, talk Italian. Italy gave us the opera.
If you want to express mixed feelings, or if you need to explore what your feelings are, talk French. France gave us Stendhal.
If you want to express your thoughts, talk German. Germany gave us Nietzsche.
If you want to express your dreams, talk Swedish. Sweden gave us Ingmar Bergman.
If you want some action, talk English. Shakespeare!
