Nice Friday surprise
I found this bow tie in a second hand shop and spent the evening with tying practice! I sure will wear it on
St Andrew’s Day.
Gone by boat?

This is Sperry Top-Sider, the very classic of boat shoes. Long ago, 1999 maybe, a load of them found its way to an outlet store in Nacka, Sweden, where I live. I bought a pair for 35.00 SEK which was then cheap for canvas shoes and remarkably cheap for a well-known brand. I wonder if the price tags on the boxes were original American ones of 35.00 USD?
Golden leaves

With a mens’ wear standard like dark suit and white shirt, the tie is your chance to set your mark. This is a Karl Lagerfeld from the 80′s.
For Auld Lang Syne

The Burns Check was created for the Robert Burns 200 years celebration in 1959. In 2007 I bought the tie at Burns House in Dumfries.
Fishy!
This one too is from the fifties. Regal brand.
It even has a seller’s label:
“Frank Myers Mens’ Wear, Elkhart, Ind.”.
50′s and 70′s
In the fifties, my uncle visited the US a couple of times and brought home amazing wide ties like the one to the left, Windsor of California Hand Painted. Then in the seventies wide ties were again in the rage. Here are three specimens, Seta Made in Italy, Cambridge probably US, and Castello Chatillon of Italy.
Happy Burns Night!
Anyone for polo?
Jolly good, old sport!
Two golf ties. The left one from around 1970 is labelled Original Laco. I don’t know if it has any connection to the Laco watch factory. The other one is a Gant, also from the seventies I think.
