And wonder why you confine madras to just the curry powder limits:)

  3. From where I am looking, India seems like a vast continent far far away. I am learning though. In Chennai, if you use curry powder, you mix it yourself, don’t you?

  4. I am glad you are interested in learning more abt the land this side of the spheroid:) But some times,it pains us-Indians- to see the West associate India to Bollywood and Curry powder. Oh, I am proffering a general opinion I seem to ve garnered thro Firang friends alike:)

As for Curry Powder, atleast in my household, they mix it themselves. The intervention of Shelf life has infact b’come a superior threat to put Curry powder off to extinction is another story altogether.

  5. Since I already have a substantial collection of spices in my household, and my dealer Taj Mahal certainly can provide the rest, I COULD mix my curry, but that packet from England is good enough for me.
Also: for some reason in Swedish news media there is much talk about China and Russia but very little about India. I don’t know how this is in other “firang” countries.

  6. Is it really hot? I heard recently that madras curry was the best in the world!

To answer your question, we drank corsican wine, but I’m not able to remenber its name… Shame on me!

  7. Yes it is hot, to a Western palate at least, and it may still be hottened up by adding some chili pepper! Some day I will go to India myself and find the very best curry.
