World’s longest book stall

So they say. Look what a crowd in the photo. This open air book market one day a year, around this time, occupies Drottninggatan (“Queen Street”) in the centre of Stockholm. Publishers, book dealers and literary societies are present, and even writers who sell their own works. Today I found some English classics and a beautiful volume of drawings by the garden architect Fredrik Magnus Piper from around 1800.

  2. Odile: indeed we do, with our long winter and many rainy days. Also, the regular book stores keep stock only for a short time, so events like this one are good for finding books of yesterday.

  3. That looks amazing. I would fly to Stockholm just to go to that. 🙂 Anything with a lot of books, I’m there.

  4. David: It is indeed amazing. The street length occupied by it is almost one kilometer. Thanks for your visit to my blog, and let’s hope you can pay a visit to this event next year!
