Then I visited Kungsträdgården (Royal Garden, old name, it is municipal since long) to inspect cherry buds.
Our Sakura Day is in a week. We keep hope!

Waiting for spring

with one comment

Today the Cherry Blossom Season in Tokyo is declared officially open. My source is a blog which I like very much, Tokyobling. We in Sweden too like the cherry blossom, although we don’t take it that solemnly.

In Stockholm at least we have since long a Sakura Day, this year scheduled for April 20. Let’s hope! Today it’s around zero centigrade and still snow and ice remaining in many places.

My son, who is a bass player, and me liked this one from Atelier Z very much, which we saw when walking along the Yasukuni-dori in Tokyo. Neck of maple, body of ash.

Shochu

leave a comment »

Shochu is a Japanese distilled liquor that hardly one outside Japan knows of. It is made from various agrarian products, this one from barley, but it could have been rice, potato, or sweet potato as well. The “41” I do understand, the percentage of alcohol. You can use it in the same ways you use whisky, aquavit or vodka.
