This can’t be said in English

”Die Wörter können nicht den gleichen Sinn haben, wenn sie nicht von dem gleichen Geschlecht sind. Auf Deutsch sind der Krieg, der Tod und der Mond maskulin, die Sonne und die Liebe feminin, und das Leben ist neutral”.

[The words cannot mean the same thing when they have not the same gender. In German, war and death and moon are masculine, sun and love are feminine, and life is neutral.]

From the film ”Jules and Jim” by Francois Truffaut (1962). Jules the German is saying this in French, deliberately giving the French nouns the wrong gender, in order to explain his point to Jim the Frenchman who only knows French.
